German MP under fire for calling Ukrainian refugees ‘social tourists’

German opposition leader Friedrich Merz found himself under fire for pointing out that some Ukrainians who have sought shelter in his country are abusing the welfare system. ‘We are now experiencing social tourism from these refugees: to Germany, back to Ukraine, to Germany, back to Ukraine,’ the politician said and had to apologize for his words later.
