Clerk: What exactly is the problem? Carter: A little while ago, I tried to buy something with my bank card and the card was rejected. I have enough money in my account, so I don't understand why there should be a problem. Clerk: Did the sales clerk try a second machine? Carter: Yes, she did, but it still didn't work. And the person who paid before me also paid with a card, so it couldn't be the machine. Clerk: Did you put the card on anything magnetic? Carter: I don't believe so. It worked yesterday, when I withdrew some money. Clerk: Okay, let's go and see what happens when we try it here. Carter: Yes, please do. Clerk: Hmm. What kind of account do you have with us, Ms Carter? Carter: A gold account. Clerk: Okay, now I know what's wrong, ma'am. Didn't you get a letter from us several weeks ago, informing you of the change in our accounts? Carter: I don't remember such a letter. Clerk: Well, we have reorganised our bank accounts and the gold account no longer exists. That's why the card no Longer works. You were supposed to fill out a form and tell us what kind of account you want. Carter: And since I didn't do that, you just closed my account. Clerk: I'm sorry, but all customers were sent two letters and one email requesting them to fill in a form and select a new account. Carter: That's absurd. Clerk: I understand, but we can take care of everything right now, if you have a moment. It takes just five minutes. I just need you to fill this in and sign here.
