Finally converted the unit to 12VDC only by removing the 220VAC-to-12VDC power section ... the scarred resistor across the power switch didn't inspire confidence. However ... dum dum dah ... I put the 2.5mm DC socket in the same spot that the CRT neck was supposed to be. 🫣 So, will need to try again. But ... I also wanted to try it with the Икар 64 (Icarus 64) as this ZX Spectrum clone includes TV tuner output as well as RGB. Unfortunately it seems I didn't really have the correct cables so I couldn't make a proper connection ... but I did manage to get an (unstable) image on the МВ (MV) band somewhere around channels 11 & 12.
