Gaura-Purnima, celebrated on March 28, 2002, is the most important festival of the year, commemorating the Divine Appearance of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The week-long celebration included the Adhivas Festival beginning March 23, followed by the sacred Nabadwip Dham Parikrama from March 24-27, where devotees circumambulated the nine islands of Nabadwip visiting holy places. On Gaura-Purnima day itself, devotees observed a complete fast until moonrise, then celebrated with Vasantotsav and Dolyatra of Sri Sri Radha-Govinda, special worship and arati, Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita reading, and Maha-Sankirttan. This recording preserves the ecstatic atmosphere of devotees gathered to celebrate Mahaprabhu's appearance.
