In mid-February I went to the village of Listvyanka on Lake Baikal, which is not far from Irkutsk. The trip by bus is only 1 hour. It is considered to be close by. There were a lot of tourists there since it was a weekend. The best time is to go in the middle of the week when there are few people and cars. The ice was not very pretty.
